I found this apple puzzle way back in April (I searched the comments to find the date!) I have been making them for Big M ever since!
I cut the apple up (sometimes a whole apple sometimes just half). The beauty is that I control how easy or difficult the puzzle is!
If I don’t “puzzle” his apple, he usually asks me to. For a kid who has never liked puzzles this a great way to sneak one in!
This is a cheap, easy, and fun way to add a little learning to snack time…. how do you learn while you eat?
This post is a part of the APPLE lesson plan.

Oh, I really like this! My son is big into puzzles and I bet he would go crazy for this. Thanks for sharing!

I love how simple it its…doesn’t take any more time than slicing an apple!
how great is this! the only thing I’d be worried about is encouraging children to play with food
I don’t really have a problem with kids playing with food, as long as they are being safe and not getting too silly. My hubs feels differently about it. =) We keep the playing with their food to cute food designs and this puzzle apple. I will say though, that Big puts the puzzle together and then eats it…. so this one hasn’t turned into playing.
I’ve only just found this post and think it’s a fantastic idea. Only the other day my 6yr oldd son was putting his apple (cut into quarters) back together. I never thought to actually take it further and make the apple into a more difficult puzzle. Guess what’s happening to his apple today! Thanks heaps for sharing.
So… did he love it???
