eBook cover… a little help from my friends

If you are on my Facebook page you’ve heard talk of an eBook in the works.  (If you are not on my Facebook page go click LIKE… I’ll wait.)

You’re back?!?!  Excellent.  Okay as I was saying I have been working on an eBook.  Are you screaming?  Me too!  I am so very excited.  This little project is a dream come true for me and I get to share it with all of you!

The official launch day is July 9th 2012.  Which is of course a self imposed deadline that I feel very passionate about keeping.  So far I am ahead of schedule.  Thanks to all of my awesome friends and family!

The 1st draft was finished (by me) a week ahead of schedule.  The editing was completed last week.  (4 awesome editor buddies had a go at it).

The eBook cover is now complete (thank you to my awesome brother in law!) but I still have to choose between two covers.  I can’t decide, I love them both.  PLEASE HELP!  Just hop down to the comments and tell me which cover you like best.

Thank you.  Thank you.

first i’m really looking forward to your ebook & thanks for honoring your readers with the opportunity to help. I love both designs! But i think for me, the first resonates “creative energy” more. Although i would maybe move the starburst more to the left (closer to center) at first i didn’t see the starburst & really liked the 2nd picture b/c of it. then i looked closer at the first! Or move the mom hand down a bit. Anyways, that’s just one person’s thoughts. thanks again

  2. they are awesome but I am LOVING the top one just a smidge more!

  7. I vote for #1! But you can’t go wrong with either one! Congrats!

  8. So exciting to see your project coming to fruition!!!

I personally would choose the second of the two brilliant choices.
From an Art Director’s perspective, I like how #2 fills the space and draws me in, in to the sparkle. From an ECE standpoint I think the ‘message’ of #2 is more ‘correct’: the sparkle is in the child and it is our adult responsibility to enfold them with care, support and direction.

All the best as you move forward.

  9. Trisha says:

I like how the spark is being transferred in #1, but I like how the spark is being shared in #2. The spark is a little hard to see in the thumbnail of #1. I’m leaning more towards #2. Love your title, and I can’t wait to read this!

I like number 1 a bit more but both are beautiful. Just as a note,I fund your name a bit difficult to read, looks too small to me maybe because of the font.Good luck :)

    Cover #2 for me….

  17. Allie says:

#2 is my vote. I like the mommy’s hands around baby’s hands. Seems more nurturing and caring. What a nice brother-in-law you have.

  18. This is so exciting I’m really looking forward to the release :D . I like the 2nd one as to me it speaks of nuturing and caring for which is how I raise my children.

  19. I like cover 2. To me it shows that the creative process is one which is shared – with the parent providing the scaffolding so the child can enjoy the process to the fullest. How exciting. Congratulations!

I liked #2 at first glance, but both are nice! So excited! I was lucky enough to preview (via editing) and you’re going to love it!

  22. Casey says:

    2nd- it looks more nurturing.

  23. Jessica says:

Hmmm…that’s a toughy, but I have to say I like cover #1 a tad bit better.

  24. Christine says:

I love #2! Very nurturing and the picture really draws you in – the first one is good, but the focal point is less obvious.

  25. pattiesigmon@mgsd.k12.nc.us says:

    I like 2 the best!

  26. Shannon says:

Looking forward to the book! I vote for #2 – it feels more like a bonding relationship and seems to fill the page better. When I looked at #1 all I noticed are two hands sort of floating around – #2 feels more together and uses the space nicely. Good luck!

  27. Liz says:

I like number 2 as well xxx

  28. Danielle says:

Love both! I think I’d go with number 1.

  29. Moriah says:

I like the first one. To me, it speaks more to our children having their own creative energy and our job to nurture it within each child independently. I agree with others that the spark in #1 should you choose it, might need to be closer or larger. Also, I just read your series about chapter books for little ones and found it very encouraging. Thank you for taking the time to write inspiring posts to parents!

  30. Congats Jillian. It’s been a long time coming! Number 1 wins my vote.

  31. Jenn says:

Love it – 2nd one for me!

  32. I think they are both great. If pushed I would go for number 1.

  33. Jessica says:

I love the 2nd cover! It looks more like you do it together, and you create that creativity within them by supporting them and guiding them along the way.

  34. Megan Spires says:

So SO excited for you! I love both covers, but love the second one more. :) -Megan

  35. Stacey says:

Both are cute but #1 catch’s my eye more!:)
