Around here TV, video and computer time is pretty limited. (For the kids anyway
). So when I heard about Jumpstart.com I thought the same thing I always think… I’ll pass. I am so very glad I changed my mind. I love, love, love it… and I don’t think I’m alone!
Big and Little M have been soaking up this virtual world and learning in the process! You know I can squeeze a lesson into anything and with Jumpstart.com… I can take a little brain break. (They are doing the teaching for me.)
What I love about Jumpstart.com
~We were installed and ready to play in about 20 seconds (which was good because Big M couldn’t wait to get started)!
~ Each membership comes with 6 accounts. So M and M can have their own player, save their own achievements and display the name they chose.
~ The names they chose. Big M loves his name so much he calls himself “Mike Lavahawk” even when he’s not playing.
~ When the kids start up for the first time they are able to design their Jumpee. They get to choose; clothes, hair style (and color), skin color, and facial features.
~There is a giant map that the kids can click into to guide them throughout the virtual world. (You can also select lands based on age recommendations).
~ As the kids are playing, the games and lands alternate between mouse and keyboard. I LOVE that!!!! In the few short weeks we have been enjoying Jumpstart.com Little M’s keyboard skills have increased drastically!
~ There are really cool games. Big M was able to design a race track and then actually race on it. HOW COOL IS THAT?!?!? Little M found a letter song book (which we heard for a few days… no surprise there).
~ Parent friendly features include a game guide that describes each world and The JumpStart Blog that keeps you up-to-date on changes.
~When Cousin T stopped by for a sleepover we were able to let her design her own Jumpee (because we can have 6).
~An unexpected bonus has been that M and M have found a peaceful cooperation that we sometimes long for with one person at a time games. Little M was even able to help her big brother out a few times.
What I don’t love about Jumpstart.com
~Well, ummmm, I’m a blogger so I don’t love sharing the computer. With ANYONE!
I would absolutely recommend Jumpstart.com! Membership is $7.99 a month, $74.99 if you want to pay for a year or a one time payment of $149.99 that gives you lifetime membership. If you want one click right on through!
p.s. You might start thinking stocking stuffer… yikes is it time to start thinking stocking stuffers???
Disclosure: I was provided with a JumpStart membership at no cost by Knowledge Adventure in order to test the products’ abilities and give my own personal opinions on it. The opinions I have given are mine and may differ from others but were not influenced by the company or the free product provided.
