Mom Expert???

Remember Jamie from Hands On: As We Grow?  She visited during Camping week with a wonderful Firewood Sculpture post.  She swears she is not a planner, but I find that hard to believe.  She has put together a really cool Ask the Experts question and answer series,  and I think she has it planned just right!

Every Month she will cover a different topic.  She will rally up a few questions from her readers, and then send them on over to her experts.  Each Monday one question will be featured along with the answers.   August’s topic is Eating Battles.

Are you wondering about the experts Jamie has selected?  There are 3; a teaching expert, a parenting expert and a mom expert.  (This month there is an additional expert, a food expert.)  Everyone in the group of experts is PHENOMENAL! Which is the reason I am so happy, thrilled, doing cartwheels around the house excited to tell you that I am the mom expert.  Can you believe it????  I was so touched when Jamie asked me to participate, and absolutely honored when I saw the others involved.

I was even more excited, if that is possible, when I saw that August was Food Battle month.  Oh boy I have a lot to say on that subject.  Head on over to Hands On: As We Grow and find out how the experts (including me yippee!) answered this question…

HOW DO YOU DEAL WITH FOOD BATTLES
AT THE DINNER TABLE?

Leave Jamie a nice little comment so she knows just how  much you love her experts series.  Then come back here and tell me what you thought of my answer.

  1. You’re awesome Jill! And definitely deserve to be the Mom Expert :) Your answers proved that, but I knew it before I read them. Thanks so much for lending us your expert advice! [Still not very good at the planning...]

    Jill,
Your advise was awesome! When my children were younger they could eat or not but only at mealtimes or snack times. I knew they wouldn’t starve and might just be really hungry the next time food was offered. This helped them learn what hunger feels like and not to just eat because “its time” or out of habit or because they are being forced to . Something I wish I had learned. They were also not allowed to sit at the table and make negative commits about the food I had spent time preparing. No thank you was all they needed to say. The only thing I would add is we told them “the rules” of eating when we were not in the middle of eating as to not cause a fight during our meal. Great JOB!

So true about the negative comments. Respect for people doing things for you is a big one in our house! (And thank you for such a nice compliment!)
