practice number recognition with a Number Hunt

Hi!  My name is Penny.

I am a stay-at-home Mom to 3 beautiful little girls.  First there is S, who is 5 years old.  She is my book lover.  I can always tell where she has been because she leaves a stack of books behind.  Then there is T, who is 4 years old.  She is my animal lover.  If she is not playing with her plastic or stuffed animals then she is pretending to be an animal.  Last, but certainly not least, there is J, who is 1 year old.  She is my attention lover.  She already loves making people laugh and will stare at you until you look at her.
I am a wife of 6 years to my hardworking, handyman, husband, Neal.  He is the reason I get to do what I love most, being a Mom!
Before becoming a Mom, I was a preschool teacher for almost 10 years.  I loved it so much and look forward to teaching again someday.
I am a quiet, reserved, 31 year old who is addicted to sweets and reality T.V.  I am also a game lover!  I love playing card or board games with my family or a game of darts with my husband.

Number Hunt

What you need:  number puzzle or number cards

This activity is a favorite in our house.  To start I sent S and T into the other room with one simple instruction ~ NO peeking!  Then I hid the numbers throughout the room.  When all the numbers were hidden I called the girls in to hunt for them.

Each time they found a number I asked them what number they had and then they put it on the puzzle.

Once the puzzle was complete, S sent T and me into the other room so she could hide them for us.  After we found all the pieces it was T’s turn to do the hiding.

Tip:  If they are having trouble finding a number give them clues as to where it is.

Great idea! I have that puzzle. I had never thought about hiding the pieces and having them find them. So clever!
