Here is another one of the random activities I found on my “sticky thing”…. this one is a super fun pretend play activity! I’m so glad I found these old activities. I hope you are enjoying them as much as I am!
Laundry Day… Pretend Play Area
Our “laundry room” was so easy to set up! Don’t you just love cardboard boxes? I cut extra large circles to mimic a washer and dryer. Okay I’ll tell the truth, I’m not allowed to use any tools (which is a story I’m sure you will love). So my hubs cut the holes for me. I did everything else though… I swear!
I copied our washer and dryer knobs almost exactly… thinking that would be the easiest thing. I used a couple smaller boxes from our recycle bin and made them into “soap” and “fabric softener” containers. The laundry basket was full of towels and dress up clothes. M and M had a great time washing, drying and folding clothes! (Great practice for the future.

You know you’ve got me with this one! How long will you leave it out? Are you doing any stories along with it or working on sorting? I want more details!
This is an activity we did a long time ago. I never put it in a post because I didn’t have anything to go with it. (Although looking at the pics makes me want to do it again!) I left it out until they started climbing in and rolling around. Then I got rid of the laundry stuff and let them use the boxes for rolling in until they were tired of that. They were probably out for about 2 weeks.
What fun at such a reasonable price!
I would say free is reasonable…
And yes it was so fun!
You rock Jill! love the idea of using boxes for the laundry pretend play
Esther!!! You made my day! I rock?!?! Thank you, thank you!
Oh this is wonderful. We are definitely doing this when we have a couple of big boxes.
You can also do this with small boxes taped together.
I love this! So easy, but so fun! I pinned this to my board under dramatic play!
Yeah! Thank you.

I love this! My kid loves nothing more than a cardboard box and they have so much potential – it also keeps imagination alive!!
